To be honest I am not certain whether Sami Hyypia is the right man for the Albion or not. Is he destined to join the large list of footballers that have played at the highest level yet are totally incapable of management?

Is the problem that he has no experience at championship level?

Is he expecting too much from his players who, through no fault of their own, do not possess the mental or physical ability he had, to enable them to perform as he wishes? More importantly does he have the final decision over which players to sign?

Just because he is in control of his emotions cannot be held against him. Neither can the high expectation level following two play-off seasons when this squad is clearly inferior to the previous ones.

He conducts himself impeccably. He speaks with authority. There are no faults in his theory. I wish he could put it into practice.

The Albion are also to be applauded for operating within the Fair Play Rules yet it is clear this is a massive disadvantage when many other clubs in the division completely ignore them.

Their mindset is that whatever punishments they receive now will be more than compensated for by the Premiership millions.

I believe in previous seasons clubs (Reading & Palace) have languished in the relegation zone prior to Christmas yet went on terrific unbeaten runs to achieve promotions that same season.

I am not suggesting for one minute that a change of form for us is just around the corner.

The big question is do we stick with the manager? If he goes, just who replaces him? Tony Pulis? No thank you. He is not our style. Maybe the players need to have a good hard look at themselves.

What I do know is if we can get 30,000 cheering voices behind them, even in adversity, who knows what could happen.
