YOU recently published an article on all the roads to be changed to 20 mph.

I thought that a council would know all the areas of the city that they are in control of, but this is obviously not what is happening with our council.

They talk about the roads to be changed in the Mile Oak area but of the ones named only a small proportion are actually in Mile Oak. The area they mention is Southern Cross, the Old Village, Upper Portslade and then Mile Oak.

Mile Oak is actually the area from the north side of Chalky Road up into the Downs. At least two of the roads mentioned are cul de sacs and so short it would be difficult to reach 20 mph.

At one time the parish of Mile Oak extended to half way down Valley Road but this was for convenience so that the Parish of St Nicolas was not too large. Mile Oak, itself, remained the area north of Chalky Road.
