Please see the letter, which I sent to Brighton and Hove buses regarding naming the bus fleet.

Alfred Richardson, milkman to the stars and war veteran, came out of the same mould as Bernard Jordan.

His customers included Sir Laurence Olivier who lived in Royal Crescent, Max Miller and Dora Bryan and also hotels along Marine Parade.

The Argus did a feature on him in September 1999.

He could remember pushing a handcart around Brighton when he began his job as a milkman.

In the winter of 1962/63 he worked all day, seven days a week to ensure his customers received their milk.

He lived in Brighton all his life apart from being in the Royal Navy during the Second World War when he was in North Africa and survived two ships being sunk.

He retired in 1976 at 65 and died aged 89 in 2001.

He was a well respected member of the community, loved by his family and still remembered by some of his customers.

It would be an honour to see his name on a Brighton and Hove bus.
