I used to live at Marine Gate and did return to the city last year to celebrate my 90th birthday at the Hotel Seattle.
I have unbreakable links emotionally to Brighton as I helped to address the first ration books in 1939 in a freezing cold desolate Pavilion, with the help of course of all the schoolchildren as there were no computers then. I have since lived and worked there mostly in The Lanes where I helped restore the old furniture shop adjacent to the Bath Arms. Now the doctors I attended is closing and I read in the Daily Mail all patients must try elsewhere at already full up practices so where are all the proposed thousands of new residents at Brighton Marina going?
I think the Marina has been neglected by the present owners but the council is failing in its duty of care to neighbouring residents by allowing over development in an already neglected setting.
A desolate ex resident.
