Last Saturday, February 21, the Burgess Hill District Lions Club (established in 1955) again welcomed the fabulous Chicory Tip band to the Martlets Hall.

They played ever popular sixties music to an audience of more than 150 people, whose ages ranged from teenage to nonagenarians.

The large space for dancing was soon filled as soon as the first pop song was played and as several other well known songs followed on, they danced the night away.

The three band members have now been performing for almost 50 years since before their biggest hit Son of My Father and were happy to return to Burgess Hill for this bi-annual event, in September.

Steve Willis Training again sponsored the event and raffle prizes were all donated by traders.

Profits on this occasion were going to First Responders.

At the end of the evening, the Lions president thanked unsung hero Tony Parris for organising this event, who in turn thanked David Avery and Chris Childs for the multi-coloured lighting system and not least, the staff of the Martlets Hall who set up tables, all with free nibbles, and ran the bar.
