All the roads off the Islingword Road from Milton to Cobden Road are an alternate direction but ours is dangerously two-way.

Twice I have asked a councillor why it has not been made one way and the most ridiculous reply is because it’s wider than the others.

If they came and actually looked they would see that this is not the case when cars are parked.

On one side the cars are parked sideways on, but on our side they are chevron parked, not just cars but vans and caravans, most overhanging the pavement by a couple of feet.

In some place they are a menace to pedestrians who are unable to walk two abreast and it is difficult to push a pram or pushchair.

The danger arises also when a car is trying to back out from being parked to drive off.

The driver cannot see to pull out as his view is blocked. The other day a car backed out and was hit by another driving along the road.

This road should now be called the chicken run instead of Cobden Road as most of the time cars cannot pass due to the whole neighbourhood parking in our road.

The cars face each other like a scene from the movie High Noon, both looking at eachother trying to psyche out the other driver to make them back up instead of them causing road rage.

Buses come down Elm Grove and usually don’t expect a car to suddenly back into their path.

This is an accident waiting to happen. We never see a warden in this area or they would see all the cars that park on the pavement, which as far as I’m aware is illegal.

I think only by voicing in print will the council take these concerns seriously.
