Has anyone noticed the number of dogs that now walk around town on an extending lead?

I am amazed that people do not realise how dangerous such a practice can be to pedestrians.

I have two friends, both partially sighted, that cannot actually see this type of lead. It could so easily trip a person up.

An extending lead is great in an open space, if your dog does not come to recall, but should not be used in confined areas.

I have actually seen a lady, on a mobility scooter, crossing a main road with one dog in front and the second one running behind – both the full length of their extending leads!

No control whatever and a cyclist wouldn’t have stood a chance as there is no way you would be able to see the leads!

Please dog owners, think of people not as able to move or see as well as you.

I will add that I have a dog myself, and love to walk her, but she does walk with me, not a mile in front.
