IT was my original post that started the story about the girl in the naked bike ride (Complaints over cyclist, The Argus, June 16).

I just want to clear a couple of things up. It was my original post that has caused this stir.

What shocked me was the fact in this day and age, our news is full of stories about paedophiles, paedophile rings and internet grooming, even a whole list of stars have now come out the woodwork.

These predators exist and are a very real threat.

This is not about this young girl doing something wrong.

Or the naked form, it’s solely about the type of sick people who would prey on events like this, so don’t get things twisted.

This is about the very real threat that the child in question could have images of herself circulated among these sickos.

Those parents among you, I’m sure you would find this inconsolable.

I witnessed first hand along with my girlfriend, unsavoury looking characters on the outskirts of this event, with long lens cameras actually standing behind trees.

Now I’m sure if these men had good intentions surely they would be out in the open.

And for those of you who are saying this event is to promote cycling and show the vulnerability of cyclists on our roads, and not about exhibitionism, maybe you could explain to me why there was a naked man walking about the event without a bike asking members of the public if they would like to take pictures of him – nothing to do with cycling whatsoever.

So next year don’t let young children take part, unless clothed.

So really I just wanted to put my point across and the reasons behind it.
