MY mother was admitted to A&E at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in the early hours of Sunday, May 24 and moved to the Acute Medical Unit later that day.

She was discharged from this unit on Friday, May 29, the day this unit was front page news in your newspaper, for all the wrong reasons.

My mother received excellent care and nothing but respect and kindness from all the staff.

She was admitted with a water infection with a very high temperature, which was quickly brought under control.

But as they were concerned there was an underlying cause they did a series of tests and would not discharge her until all the results were back and they were satisfied she was medically fit.

My mother is 92.

She has nothing but praise for all the nurses and doctors who were understaffed and working under pressure.

But she did have one complaint – the food.
