BAN smoking on a beach? They are currently unable to enforce existing laws such as littering our beach.

This is the biggest problem and health concern to our coast, not smoking outdoors with a prevailing breeze.

For heaven’s sake, has anyone actually measured the air quality in our city populated by stinking buses?

I suggest a far greater health risk exists in North Street and Queen’s Road than has ever done by sitting outdoors near a smoker.

I am a regular smoker, I am also extremely fit, and when cycling I would never dream of going anywhere near the town centre buses. Their exhaust is lethal.

If there was an intelligent, open investigation and air quality measurement of these relative risks then decisions could be made fairly.

However, there never will be.

I have tried to get details of the levels of hydrocarbons and particulates emitted by the sometimes 20 buses queuing in one road at once and have been unable to.

I guess buses suit the council’s plans and having a fag outside does not.

Concentrate on tidying the town and managing existing law first.
