I HAVE been watching the jacking operations of the i360 tower along with many other people, and very impressive it is too.
When the jacking operation reaches its final stages the tower jack will be required to lift a structure that is 500 feet tall and will weigh in excess of 1,000 tons.
I do not wish to appear to be a ‘Jonah’ but am I the only one wondering if there is an element of risk to this?
Has this method of construction been used before? Ambitious engineering projects have been known to fail.
I guess these people know what they are doing and they will certainly need to carry out the final stages of the lift in perfect weather conditions with no wind.
I certainly wish them the very best of luck as the consequences of it toppling over do not bear thinking about.
