I would question the council’s legal right to sell off Hove library.

It definitely doesn’t have the moral right to sell off the library that was given to the residents of Hove by the philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie.

Our councillors and, more pertinently, our council officers, have presided over the collapse of the very fabric of the city.

The Madeira Drive Terraces had just a slap of (the wrong) paint in the hope that no-one would notice.

Our roads are breaking up. The A259 is literally falling apart.

Did the council officers not know? If not why not?

Did they not tell the councillors? Again, if not why not?

What else is there that have we not been told about?

And what hope is there for the council finances, when no-one spots that £3.5 million has not been paid into the bank?

We have also had a council officer accused of giving contracts to his relatives, major contractors overcharging – and that is just a few examples that we know of.

But things can’t be that bad because the council is carrying on the Greens’ good works by introducing more controlled parking schemes and gridlock inducing road schemes.

And we have the i360!

Is anyone actually concentrating on the basics that we expect from a council?

The council needs to put its own house in order before selling off the family silver.
