Following the exciting FA Cup draw at the weekend, in which the Albion were paired Premiership giants Aston Villa, it’s been non-stop talk about tickets, and when they’ll be released and who will get priority etc.

With shades of the FA Cup draw away to West Ham United just a few years ago, this has the potential to send the ticket office insane with their attempts to handle the rush to gain the 6000 or so tickets which the Albion have been allocated.

Interestingly enough, I received a text within two hours of the draw being made, from a number which wasn’t saved on my phone. The text merely stated ‘gr8 draw 4 bhafc, u goin?’ In light of the recent ‘Sherlock Holmes’ film being released, I thought I’d piece together all the things I could gather from that text in a bid to find out the craftsman of the mystery message.

I instantly knew two things, firstly that they needed some serious help with their English, secondly that they probably didn’t follow the Albion on a regular basis as they seemed to have next to no knowledge of how tickets are dealt with, with regards to the complicated priority system that the Albion ticket office have adopted.

This then got me thinking about so called ‘glory-hunters’, and how their support affects Brighton & Hove Albion. I’d imagine that if you asked the majority of ‘hard core’ Albion supporters about the issue, they’d tell you straight away that the influx of people that jump on the bandwagon for situations such as these is a negative thing. Obviously I think that’s true to an extent – it has been known to stop some of these ‘hard core’ getting tickets.

However, with a new ticketing procedure now in place, meaning that Gold members are given priority for events such as these, one can only assume that the subject has been put to bed once and for all. Let alone the fact that I doubt we’ll sell out 6000 tickets, it is worth reminding avid Albion followers that with the new stadium finally on it’s way, we are going to depend on these so called glory-hunters to help fill a 22,000 seater stadium.

I never did find out who sent the text, so if you are by some twist of fate reading this, yes it is a good draw and yes, I shall be going! I’d also like to apologise for my lack of time devoted to writing this blog, my new year’s resolution shall be to keep on writing. Stay posted!
