I didn't do the first session of this week, as it was another 'cross-training' one and 1. I can't be bothered doing anything that's not running, thank you very much; 2. I couldn't be bothered with anything, to be honest.

I was up at stupidissimo of the o'clock this morning, though, so thought I'd do the 2nd of the 4 in this week's plan. I got dressed, then looked to find out what the session actually was, saw it was a fartlek and nearly changed my mind. But what the hell else is there to do at 6.15 on a January morning? So off I toddled.

And, blimey, is it peaceful round here at that time of the morning! Not a single soul out. Just cats everywhere. Hundreds and hundreds of them. Not fighting or seeming to pay too much attention to each other, even. Just doing the cat things; like attacking blades of grass with all their legs apparently stuck in the straightened position by rigor mortis or something, and then running away. Until I passed by, that is. Then they mostly did running-away-with-the-ears-flat-against-the-head. Harsh, perhaps, but probably fair.

Anyway, I finally feel like I'm getting back into the routine - only 3 weeks of the year gone!!! 2.62 miles including the 8 murderous sprinty bits, in a 25-minute session. Not too bad. I'm counting down now to the half marathon next month (NEXT MONTH!!!), so hope my sessions and blog posts are rather more regular from now on!
