Despite the fact that I completed a 20 mile run this weekend, I thought I'd dedicate this post to my friend Nessie (Jo), who this weekend became a victim of that little known crime, Running Identity Theft. It was Nessies birthday on Sunday (I won't say which one) and she had chosen to spend some of it running the Hastings Half marathon.

A few of us turned out in miserable conditions to cheer her and a couple of others (Urzsula and Nuala) on. We had giant Union flags, offensively loud airhorns and a large thermos of hot chocolate, all provided by the ever efficient Mark.

Nessie did very well to get round a difficult course (the first 3 miles are up a large hill) in 2hrs36, but her achievement wont be recognised because someone claiming to be her arrived at the start saying they had forgotten their race number/timing chip. The race organisers provided the imposter with a new number and whoever it was recorded a time only 8 minutes faster than Ness.

We have no idea who this scoundrel is, but the official race photos should be online in the next couple of days and with these we can identify the culprit.

Oh, and on a separate note, I want to say thank you to everyone that made an effort to nod, smile, wave, give a thumbs up etc I got when I was out on Saturday, it makes it so much more enjoyable when others are nice! 22 miles on Sunday!

And please can someone sponsor me? I'm starting to get desperate!
