This weekend is marking the end of Brighon’s comedy festival and you have two days left to catch some giggles.

I have had a manic few weeks and haven’t taken advantage of the festival as much as I would have liked to have – but I did go and see some comedy that’s worth posting about.

Writing this blog, I find it hard not to spend the whole time singing Komedia’s praise – it’s a venue that puts great club nights on and every comedy night that I have seen as been hilarious…until now.

A few weeks ago a group of us went to see a night called old rope. It is a night where a variety of established artists come on stage and tries out their new material. I think when we read the write up we only saw the words “a variety of artists” and “new material” but missed out the words “try out.” Once we got there and sat down it dawned on me – hang on, why did we pay if they are practicing their new material – surely they don’t even know if it is funny yet?!

And it wasn’t very funny. It was the cringing type when you wanted the ground to swallow you up and as soon as one was over, another began! Points went to the compare, Tiffany Stevenson who managed to keep bringing us round and who was very funny. Luckily many of the artists were funny enough to turn even a dying set around every now and again but all in all, not a night I think I’ll go to again!
