She's been listed as one to watch in 2009 by Vogue and she's invited me to her launch party in Brighton next Wednesday, so naturally I wanted to find out a little bit more about vintage fashion addict and local lady Natasha Bailie.

Natasha, tell me about your love of vintage...

I have loved vintage since I can remember - the whole era, the dresses, the people, the hair, the men, the children. As with any child, the first movie I watched was a Disney movie, but the second was "High Society" and the third was "Singing in the rain". Since then I've never looked back on my love for the past!

The romance of Grace Kelly, Marilyn and Frank Sinatra had me hooked. I remember being really upset when I was very young that they actually "didn't make them like that anymore" as I had dreams of being as beautiful as Lana Turner and making a movie where I was swimming throughout like Esther Williams..

It didn't take much to decide that vintage is where my heart is. I know about it, I buy it on a weekly basis and I was desperate to meet other vintage lovers, so I had the idea to start my own vintage shop online on EBay which is where Natasha Bailie Vintage Clothing Company started in March 2008. A year on, the website has been created and NBVCC is doing rather well.

So what's new?

Well, I recently got the idea that I wanted to branch out and experiment with vintage reproduction so found a local graduate fashion designer and we decided to create a collection to see what would happen. The collection has just gone online under the department "vintage style dresses" and the collection comprises of two different style prom dresses and full circle skirts. The sewing patterns were found on various internet sites and antique market. They are original 1950s patterns and we have sourced rare vintage fabrics from all over England for our vintage style dresses.

We have made dresses from curtains and bed spreads that people have just tossed aside. We are giving these vintage fabrics a new lease of life. We also have a few dresses that are made with new fabric and can be "made to measure" to any vintage lovers specifications and body shape.

Alternatively, if a customer likes one of our styles and has their own fabric, we are happy to make the dress for them from as little as £100.

Vintage reproduction is just another dimension to NBVCC, but it is exciting trying all these things out. This is where I am up to today but who knows what will happen next week! Retro swimsuits? Events? Your guess is as good as mine.
