If you have an important man in your life, whether it be a husband, boyfriend, father, brother, son or even a close male friend, they are bound to have been rambling on at great length about the World Cup at every opportunity that presents itself. And with the matches only just kicking off, World Cup-mania will soon be ready to reach fever pitch.

You've probably already heard or read the term 'World Cup Widows' floating around in the press at the moment, but it seems it's not just us ordinary girls who will be abandoned by our men for the next however many weeks. The poor old WAGS (of course I use the term 'poor' loosely as it's not like any of them are short of a bob or two) have been banned from attending any of the matches by England manager Fabio Capello, in case their presence puts any of our players off. Jeeez, these boys take it so seriously don't they?!

I propose my fellow females, that with our men out of the way and in some cases practically begging us not to stand in front of the television or even in close proximity of the house, this is perfect opportunity for all of us to indulge ourselves, make like a WAG and hit the shops or our laptops for some well deserved retail therapy.

For those of you who are feeling flush, or just like you're in need of a bit of a treat, why not do a Coleen Rooney and pop along to her favourite store in Liverpool - Cricket. Practically busting at the seams with sleek designer gear and New York labels, this is a one-stop shop for a complete head-to-toe WAG makeover or even just a chic accessory to compliment the rest of your wardrobe. For those of us that can't make it to Liverpool, Cricket has a great online store (www.cricketliverpool.co.uk) which features the majority of their stock. WARNING: THESE PRICES MAY CAUSE YOUR HEART-RATE TO RISE.

For prices that are slightly easier of your wallet and kinder on your heart-rate, Steven Gerrard's wifey Alex Curran is such a fan of very.co.uk's brand new World Cup range that she actually agreed to model for it. Based on the England flag (yes, I do mean red and white) it must be pretty good, because Alex is a serious stylista. I think she looks great in the maxi-dress on the website, but if the World Cup look isn't for you, then check out the Sex and the City inspired pieces and accessories they have in stock at the moment.

Perhaps best-known for parading around in her knickers on the covers of various men's magazines, Abigail Clancy has just represented England in the launch of Umbro's brand new range of cute football Tees (visit www.umbro.com or your local stockists for more details on how you can get your hands on one of these ultra cool shirts).

However, when she's not in her undies (or in football shirts), Abby does have that rather annoying habit of scrubbing up pretty goddamn well when she seems to have just 'slung on' a dress. One of Abby's online shopping secrets is www.boohoo.com. Trust me, it's well worth a trawl through the site and the delivery is incredibly reliable - perfect for when you need something fast just before a party, wedding or spontaneous weekend away.

Despite David Beckham's unfortunate Achilles injury preventing him being part of the England squad this year, who am I to miss out our Queen-WAG - good ol' Posh Spice? At the moment though it's her hair I'm more interested in than her fashion as I've always thought she looks a little bit too structured to be comfortable in her clothes. It's nice to see that Victoria Beckham has ditched her poker-straight hair too-perfect cut for relaxed, sexy, messy waves which she revealed recently at an LA fashion party. It really suits her!

To get this look Mrs Beckham would have had to add lots of volume to her roots. Brush a small amount of Toni & Guy Boost-It Mousse through damp hair to give good lift at the roots and blow dry using a large round brush creating loose waves as you dry. Polish the look by using straighteners or tongs on the ends and spritzing with a strong hairspray.

Come on England! (It'll give us more time to shop and drink wine with the girls while the boys are busy...).
