I was meant to do the last pre-race session yesterday morning before work. But I got up and looked at my planner and it turned out to be a 1-hour session. With the best will in the world, which you may have gathered I don't always have, I can't do an hour's run before work, get to work on time and be productive for the whole day.

So I went to work early instead. Today's turned out to be an absolute beauty, so it's not been too much of a hardship to hit the roads again. And it was only a level 2 run, fairly easy on the lungs and limbs, so I'm comfortable that doing it so close to the big day tomorrow won't have caused any issues.

It wasn't the most comfortable of runs, I have to say. I got a stitch, which absolutely has not happened before, and my quads felt a bit stiff and never really loosened up. This made it quite hard going for a low-intensity session. But the perfect weather, some good music and the occasional adrenalin rush - sidestepping small dogs who'd stretched their leads to the fullest extent and at one point seeing Mr Slim and the lovely Zoe (oh my god, they're tall!) - meant the hour passed quickly and I ended up covering 6.5 miles.

Tomorrow. Kind of 'eek'. I don't know why. I mean, I've done the distance a number of times. Nevertheless.

And much as I hate to finish on a downer, I'd just like to give the management of Brighton Marina a piece of my mind. At virtually no notice and having given no reason whatsoever, they are refusing to allow runners to park at the Marina tomorrow. This means a lot of people no doubt having to make last minute changes to travel plans and probably experiencing all kinds of stress they could really do without. It's not a huge blow for me, I'll just get the bus. But I'm planning on spending lots of money on food and drink in a pub or restaurant after I finish. Had I been parked at the Marina as planned, I'd be going there to do it. But they won't see a penny now. Up yours, you ignorant bunch of arseholes and I hope all the out-of-towners travelling in for the event avoid you as well. Tell all your friends!
