Art 2010 at the Art Business Design Centre was a fascinating experience. Andrew Gifford took me with him for the day as he exhibited some of his paintings there, in the John Martin gallery. There was hundreds of gallery’s exhibiting artists work from all around the world. The paintings that Andrew exhibited were a series of the Thames showing light bouncing off the water, in oil paint. They were very inspiring and looked great in the special lighting and handmade frames.

It was the opening night of Art 2010, while the final preparations were taking place I had the fantastic opportunity to look around each gallery, on my own with barely anybody around. Each gallery’s work was individual and gave out a certain energy that I won’t ever forget. There were all types of media: oil, acrylic and water colour paintings, photography, sculptures, films and lots more. It felt amazing to have no one around. It was just me and the art!

Andrew Gifford is an oil painter and does light installations. He uses light as his main topic in most of his oil paintings. He does this by creating a series of paintings of the same view of different times of the day and night. You can see the change in the light when comparing his breathtaking paintings.

There were many pieces of art that I liked. Some drawings and oil paintings were so detailed they looked like photography, I had to look at them for a while to convince myself that the label telling you what the piece was, was the right one.

The opening commenced at four o’clock. Many important and some famous people came to view and purchase the Art work. The Champagne was served at six, almost everyone dressed in black smart clothes was schmoozing, and some were even looking at the art.
