The Sussex coast is one of the best places to live in the country – there is no doubt about it.

But the seafront is more important than just a nice place to live. It gives us our livelihoods, wellbeing and so much more.

We need to consider carefully the future of the seafront and ensure we preserve everything that makes it so special while developing and growing.

When reporting on some of the recent troubles regarding Brighton’s Victorian seafront arches, it was striking the lack of collaboration or joined-up thinking in trying to solve the issue.

What we need is a plan. A plan to ensure our seafront and the communities that live along it continue to thrive and prosper for generations to come.

Our seafront is too important to simply leave to chance.

The time for action is now and today we launch our Seafront 2020 campaign. This newspaper cannot solve all of the problems, but we can kick-start a debate.

And this is not just a debate for those in Westminster and in our town halls. It is a debate for you to be at the heart of.

So take a look at our ten point manifesto and let us know what you think.
