MORE information has come to light over terrorist Khalid Masood’s links to Sussex.

The more we know, the more he appears to be an unhinged character.

Prone to violence, it does not feel like those who knew him could sense he was a devout Muslim or that he held strong beliefs about values in western society.

It feels almost like those failures among us who lose the plot and resort to violence to give meaning to their lives are being preyed upon or are latching on to the mistaken belief that they can find direction in life through siding with Isis.

Isis is claiming responsibility for the killing of PC Keith Palmer on Wednesday.

But this has remained an opportunistic claim and it is still believed that he acted as a lone wolf without being guided or steered by any members of the organisation.

It is still not clear if Masood, formerly known as Adrian Elms, was radicalised during stays at Lewes prison and Ford open prison.

The authorities will be working all of this out for the sake of the future and for all of us.

Although the killer has strong links to Sussex we all need to remain calm.

Experts have told us that Brighton and Sussex as a whole is not a place where extremists are likely to be able to blend in and are therefore unlikely to use the area often.

That does not make us any less likely to be targeted though.

What is clear as that Brighton must remain the diverse city that it is.

The best way to stay strong in the face of this terrorism is to prevent them from changing the way we live.
