TODAY’S front page makes shocking reading.

A woman and her child abused simply because they weren’t born in this country.

Truly shocking but sadly this kind of incident has been happening more since we decided to leave the EU.

Last year we interviewed the Home Secretary Amber Rudd – also the MP for Hastings and Rye – and she felt the surge of hate crime after Brexit had eased over the following months.

Official figures seem to reflect what Ms Rudd said.

But it is still happening and far too often.

Only yesterday on the national news we heard about a gang who attacked a teenaged asylum seeker in Croydon on Friday.

The Kurdish Iranian boy, 17, was waiting with two friends at a bus stop when he was set upon by about eight people.

MP Gavin Barwell said: “It’s an appalling crime and I hope the people responsible... receive the full force of British justice.”

Very appropriate words.

The incident in the Brighton park may not have been violent but it will still send a shiver down our spines.

Nobody has the right to make the comments that this man did.

Racism is totally unacceptable in society and we must all do what we can to stamp it out.

Brighton and Hove is a great city with so many different views and sectors of society are represented.

Tolerance is something that we are known for.

Let’s hope police track this man down and he gets hauled before the courts with a suitable punishment. The victims deserve nothing less.
