THIS is Local Newspaper Week – a very important event for everyone at The Argus.

Most readers will be aware of major changes to the media world in the past few years brought about by the internet.

News is now more immediate than ever.

You can access what is happening on social media on your own phone and computer.

But we firmly believe there remains a role for local newspapers – and it’s a role we are determined to make the most of at The Argus.

In the past 12 months we have moved back into the heart of the city and we are now in Manchester Street.

We think the move was important because we are determined to be at the heart of the communities we serve.

We also have a new editor. I took over at the start of the year and was delighted and indeed very proud to do so.

The Argus is a great institution and my aim is to make it as relevant today as it has always been.

With our print and online offer we now reach 75 per cent of residents across Brighton and Hove each month.

That’s an amazing figure and one we are always looking at ways to increase.

We are also proud to stretch across the whole of Sussex – a great county which has so much to offer.

In recent months we have also extended The Argus brand across Mid Sussex, Worthing and the South Coast as well as Lewes.

We believe that The Argus has a great future.

We are on a journey – a journey that is currently looking very positive indeed.
