SO the future of Hove’s Labour MP Peter Kyle appears to be uncertain yet again.

What utter madness!

He massively increased his majority in the General Election with a thumping win in what was one of his party’s most at-risk seats.

He was defending Labour’s 13th smallest majority in the country of just 1,236 votes but grew that to almost 18,000 votes.

His 36,132 votes was the highest by a Hove MP since 1959.

But for some in the Labour Party that isn’t good enough.

We revealed on Saturday that supporters of leader Jeremy Corbyn have moved a step closer to being able to remove Mr Kyle.

In a dramatic manoeuvre at a meeting on Thursday, which “blind-sided” supporters of Mr Kyle, left-wing Labour members secured backing for a plan to empower activists to deselect MPs.

The move was mirrored elsewhere in the country and the plan will now be considered for discussion at the national Labour Party conference in Brighton this autumn.

If discussed and passed by conference, the change would mean all prospective Parliamentary candidates – including sitting MPs – would be subject to a reselection vote by local activists.

A vote by a relatively small number of Labour activists, many of whom in Brighton and Hove are to the political Left of the MP, could block his reselection as a candidate.

Momentum Brighton and Hove argues no Labour MP has the right to a job for life.

That may be true but give Mr Kyle a break.

What more is he supposed to do?
