HOMELESSNESS in Brighton is becoming an increasingly difficult issue to deal with.

With a significant rise in homeless people and so few resources, the rough sleepers of the UK are becoming more and more at risk.

The figures show that homelessness has increased by a third in the past year, which means that around 3,000 people in the UK are sleeping rough each night.

Many hundreds of those can be found in Brighton and Hove.

This is a worryingly high statistic which needs to be tackled more head on.

The charity St Mungo’s has created an nationwide phone line, website and mobile app called Streetlink which gives rough sleepers a chance to secure permanent homes.

The campaign focuses on three main areas; rescue, recovery and prevention.

The campaign strives to help people find their way out of homelessness and keep them on track.

As well as this, it aims to prevent as many people from falling into homelessness in the first place.

Anyone that would like to report a rough sleeper in Brighton can call their 24-hour hotline on 0300 500 0914.

Alternatively you can downland and use their StreetLink Smartphone app at anytime.

Homelessness is a reality of everyday life in the UK. It shouldn’t be but it is.

You can help those affected regain their independence.
