WHILE trying to decipher what impact Brighton and Hove Albion’s promotion to the Premier League would have on the local property market, the snap election was announced.

Do we press delete on the first draft and rethink? Or do both events simply highlight what’s best about our local property market?

Brighton’s property market prosperous on its layering; its layers of buyers from different cultures, backgrounds and lifestyles.

And where one group of buyers retracts, for a multitude of reasons, others take up the slack.

This makes the marketplace resilient to all but the most catastrophic of economic times.

Already named as one of the most sought-after locations in England and Wales for homebuyers aged between 25 and 44, Brighton offers tremendous opportunities for young professionals.

So, where some will retract in the nervousness of a snap election, others will seize the opportunities.

In the Brexit negotiations, it’s clear that some will lose while others benefit. As for Brighton and Hove Albion’s promotion to the Premier League, all should prosper from the recognition, kudos and income it will bring.

Do we think that the local property bubble will burst or even deflate – thanks to the Albion no, we think it will thrive.

Brexit and election doubters will retract and those who believe in the city’s resilience, or who prosper from the Premiership spoils, will take-up the slack. This is the time for ‘home-grown’ buyers to flourish.

Panic or Prosper? At Mishon Mackay, we are certainly not panicking.
