Cyclists ignoring the law have not decreased since 2011 when the Green Party took over.
I can see almost that many in a week around King’s Road, King’s Esplanade and George Street in Hove.
Here is some information I received under the Freedom of Information Act from the police.
These are the total number of Fixed Penalty Notices issued to cyclists in Brighton and Hove (warnings are not centrally recorded) over three years: 2010 – 169; 2011 – 75; 2012 – 59.
Over the past year, I have seen more cyclists riding on pavements and ignoring road traffic signs and signals, so I am a bit confused as to why the number of fixed penalty notices has dropped.
