The University of Sussex in Falmer wants to expand (The Argus, July 1) spending, about £220 million on more university buildings for thousands more students.
Have the local authorities sold off the village of Falmer?
Since the 1960s, university land has encroached in all directions from Coldean to nearby Woodingdean – do we want to turn Brighton into a student-only town?
A large portion of students who attended years ago have already made their homes in Brighton.
Thousands more people have moved here in the past 20 years – some needing council housing. We do not want to build gigantic housing estates all over the South Downs.
Our schools and hospitals cannot cope with a higher population – even now the roads are always gridlocked with traffic.
