A letter writer (The Argus, September 4) stated that half of the route to cycle from Woodingdean to Falmer involves using a busy single-track road.

There is a new cycle/footpath which runs from the top of Woodingdean to Falmer village. This runs separately, but next to, the road. Currently some excavation work means a short section is closed, though a bridle path still bridges the gap.

It is set to be formally opened – following a joint effort from the local and district council, the National Park and Brighton and Hove Albion – at the end of September. It will provide a safer and easier route for those wishing to cycle or walk to the Amex from Woodingdean.
