Regarding Gatwick Airport’s second runway consultation, I regret to say that anyone saying that a vote for runway option 1 is a vote for option 3 is misinformed.

For those tempted to believe erroneous statements, I would urge them to see the exhibitionette at Ifield Court Hotel this month, before completing Gatwick’s consultation form.

The Airports Commission will only be investigating “three schemes”: options 1, 2 and 3.

The commission will not – repeat not – be investigating any alternative options, such as a “no runway” option.

Therefore, as I see it, only comments relating to options 1, 2 or 3 will be investigated.

Options 2 and 3 will create maximum profit to the airport owners and maximum destruction to the local community whereas land has already been set aside for option 1, which was agreed upon when West Sussex County Council and British Airports Authority drew up an agreement in 1979, and which ends in 2019.

Option 1 should be voted for as this will be investigated by the Airports Commission. Options 2 and 3 would be catastrophic for the local community and beyond.
