I am getting sick of reading and hearing about people and their pets being savaged by out of control dogs (The Argus, April 11).
Your story tells how a dog was savaged by two Rottweiler-style animals last Wednesday.
It says the owners of these animals ran away and are (at the time of going to press) still being sought by police.
I am an animal lover but these owners should be banned from having dogs. The ones they have which attacked this harmless pet should be put down.
The case of this poor dog is just typical and I pray it recovers even though, as the story says, it will be forever affected by what happened. Vets fear the dog will never walk again.
Strangely, the owners of the savaged dog commented that it did not fight back but just lay there throughout the ordeal.
What chance did it have against two aggressive creatures like this?
Obviously it was in shock, probably paralysed with fear and unable to move.
I hope the two owners who ran away from this dreadful incident are found and that their dangerous animals are destroyed.
If the police do find them responsible, they should be fined and banned from being in charge of any dog ever again.
