The Green councillor responsible for housing in Brighton and Hove announced in March that all the council’s accommodation now meets a good living standard.
This news, of course, is good for lucky council tenants but is cold comfort for those of us in the private sector.
I assume improvements to council properties are funded by the taxpayer, thus it seems unfair that council tenants should then receive such large discounts to buy property after a mere five years.
Compare this with someone in a housing association property, or struggling in a private home.
