Tim Ridgway’s admiration for Caroline Lucas and her Green Party colleagues continues to grow (Argus July 7) in almost direct correlation to the growing anger felt by many about the problems her party is causing.

Her former Parliamentary candidate colleague Ben Duncan, pictured right, almost certainly provided the last straw for many when he called British soldiers ‘hired killers’ on Armed Forces Day.

The reality is that while Caroline Lucas appears at every demonstration and photo op going, her Green councillors are doing nothing to deal with the schools places crisis, the council funding crisis, the seafront collapse and dozens of other issues because they cannot agree on tough decisions.

In contrast, it is Labour locally who are putting forward ideas to tackle poverty and cost of living issues with our Fairness Commission proposals, Purna Sen's work on a fairer deal for private rented sector tenants, and Labour plans to devolve Whitehall power and spending to local town halls and communities.

Far from "swagger", Labour is showing a quiet determination to provide the city with a sensible and reliable alternative to Ms Lucas and her Green council colleagues.
