I agree with what Cllr Paul Yallop, leader of Worthing Borough Council said in the article, Theatres face axe over costs (Argus July 3).

I tend to walk around the town most days and can see quite clearly just how well it is progressing.

The main shopping precinct (Montague Street) can get very busy with shoppers and there are very few empty shops to be seen there.

Another popular precinct is Warwick Street. Again I can only see two empty shops and one of them is displaying a sold sign.

Just across from Warwick Street in Broadway, a wine bar will be opening very soon. In recent years, Worthing has seen a number of top quality residential developments taking place in or near the town centre and this means more customers for the shops, bars and theatres. So summing up, Worthing is doing very well.
