Tim Ridgway is right (View from the Ridgway, Argus) – the Greens can’t be written off yet.
Equally, the Tories are tomorrow’s fish and chip wrappers and yes, Labour do appear to be on the ascendancy, but, viewed against the election results, County, Shires/Boroughs and European, this is a somewhat shallow analysis.
Why no mention of UKIP, Tim, or the vociferous motorists’ lobby, Unchain Brighton and Hove? And what about our thoroughly effective Independent councillor Christina Summers?
Huge numbers of people feel disenfranchised by the three big parties having morphed into the ‘muddlers in the middle’.
Here in Brighton and Hove the Greens provided a radical alternative last time for disaffected Labour voters.
This time round there are new kids on the block who, especially in UKIP’s case, seem to be chiming chords with far more than merely fed-up Labour voters. Commentariat beware.
