Is it good news that the i360 has an exhibition space and conference facilities – where’s the fun? (Argus, July 8.) If the i360 people want a conference centre they should get one on a land site, preferably with a car park. It's not appropriate for this beach site.
Seaside projects should provide facilities for local people and visitors to enjoy on a daily basis.
This project is replacing the West Pier so let’s have some popular ‘end of the pier’ attractions for everyone to enjoy within the i360 plans.
It could have a Victorian theme. We’ve lost a pier but we could still have a pier head. It could be very exciting.
Coast to Capital LEP invested £4 million but the £36 million loan guaranteed by the council makes the people of Brighton and Hove the major contributors and as such they should have a say in the use of the project. It is their beach.
As for the projected income – people are sceptical anyway. The council has already spent a fortune on the area and people are braced for possibly repaying some of the £36 million loan.
Meanwhile let all the people enjoy the facilities.
