Stop pouring your waste in drains.

After the problems of blocked drains, gully suckers do not come to clean them out on a regular basis but too many people mostly builders pour their waste down them, This waste goes hard and then blocks the drain.

This is illegal and involves a heavy fine. The councils should have a crackdown on them.

After the torrential rains and hail last month keeping the drains clean is more important than ever.

Here in Stirling Place, earlier this year the council placed a road crossing and in doing so improved the drainage system and that saved us from getting water in our homes. Even then it was touch and go as the water was over the kerb and getting near front doors. Thankfully we stayed dry.

My heart goes out to those who have been flooded.

It will take a long time to recover from it. It is up to us all to do our bit to keep all drains clear and free flowing.

One basement in Stirling Place got full of water and had to be pumped out by Hove Fire and Rescue, one of the services the government want to cut!
