Has anyone noticed how bad the traffic situation in Olive Road, Hove has got?
Whilst the Green Party seem intent on driving tourists away from our city by high parking charges, clogging up roads with traffic due to more bus lanes, and reducing speed limits in some unnecessary areas, there are some more important areas in need of attention.
Currently, we have a situation where the south end of Olive Road has no double yellow lines.
This is the case both sides from Hallyburton Road, south to Portland Road.
There are three businesses in the bottom half of the road and it gets very busy with people parking half on the pavement/road causing chaos.
Parents are forced to take buggies out into the road to get around parked vehicles, and also buses are forced to wait and cause traffic jams as they try to drive around the same parked vehicles.
This is a main bus route, and a very busy road due to the rail crossing in Boundary Road. Any vehicle can park legally where they like, even on the bridge next to traffic islands if they like due to a lack of yellow lines.
It won’t be long before someone is seriously injured or a bad accident occurs.
To leave this as it is, is dangerous. It almost makes as much sense as letting cyclists ride the ‘wrong’ way down one way streets!
Come on Green Party, do something meaningful for once.
P Cheal,
Hallyburton Road,
Hove.
