I learned recently that the King Alfred swimming pool complex was once called the Hove Marina and was taken over in 1939 by the Admiralty as a shore establishment of the Royal Navy and called HMS King Alfred.
After the war, as it was now commonly known by this name, permission was given to call it the King Alfred. It occurred to me that it would be much more revelatory of its history to more people if the HMS title could be restored if possible.
The history of the HMS King Alfred can be found on the Royal Navy Research Archive website.
