We are gaining support

You report on two rallies this past weekend, both focusing on the Middle East, the Brighton for Peace march and the Rally for Israel.

I would like to add a third perspective from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC).

Brighton for Peace described its march as non-political, and highlighted the humanitarian catastrophe suffered by the people of Gaza and elsewhere in the Middle East.

The PSC views the crisis in Gaza primarily as a political crisis albeit with humanitarian fallout. We must work towards a political solution for Gaza and all the people of Palestine.

We take our lead from Palestinian civil society, which has called on the international community to organise boycotts and sanctions until Israel complies with international law.

Our rallies in Brighton over the past few weeks have been supported by hundreds of people from many backgrounds.

The Rally for Israel was a demonstration of support for Israel’s attacks on Gaza described by the United Nations as war crimes under international law.

Keith Taylor, one of our members of the European Parliament, issued a statement, expressing his ‘disappointment’ that this rally was taking place in his constituency.

It is vital that we have a clear understanding of what we need to do help solve the crisis.

That is why support for our campaign has grown massively over the past few weeks.

Barry Stierer Secretary,

Brighton & Hove Palestine Solidarity Campaign

Why don't you call for Gazans to stop shelling Israel?

That would end the conflict immediately.

Also, why don't you condemn Hamas for murdering Gazans on trumped-up charges that were never tested in court?

You people really have reality issues.

It wouldnt end the conflict immediately it would simply revert the situation back to one in which Israel continued to steal the Palestinians land, illegally occupied more of the Palestinians land and continued to kill Palestinians with no consequences to their actions because of the protection offered Israel by the USA and us.
The Palestinians find that situation intolerable so why would they go back to that?
Its not a legal requirement by the way that anyone who criticises Israel must first condemn Hamas. If you want to play the condemn the terrorist game you go first by condemning the activities of the Zionist terrorists, you can then condemn the most moral army in the world for their well documented habit of shooting dead unarmed protestors without any trial at all and then encouraging the soldiers responsible to lie about what happened.
You are the one with reality issues, or most likely you just want a stick to beat those you dont like with.

Israel has stated that the conflict arose in order to stop the daily shelling of its land and to seal the illegal tunnels.

I know that you fail to state to which 'stolen' land you refer. Israel has renounced its 'right' to Gaza.

If you are referring to the West Bank, it is not illegal for a Jewish person to go and live there. Get this - people of other nations and races can live basically where they choose. Otherwise, the people of West Yorkshire could ask the UN to remove the Asians who have swamped their towns and cities these past 50 years.

The Gazans have created this situation by refusing to acknowledge Israel's right to exist. The Palestinians are racist - at least the Jews voluntarily chose to accept Arab neighbours, but those neighbours have never accepted them.

I note you had no issue with the murders of 18 Gazans last week. That makes you as bad as they are. If protesters require shooting, then so be it - any member of the IDF breaks the law, they are caught and punished.

History is a subject no longer taught in schools, The teachers are mostly left wing so until facts are given that are true and clear we will always have ignorant people making remarks that untrue. When Hamas became the leaders of Gaza, their first declaration was to kill every Jew in Israel. They have exploited their people and continued to fire rockets into Israel. If they stopped and used the material sent to build homes and reconstruct Gaza instead of tunnels into Israel then perhaps there would be peace. Just remember you get what you vote for.

I cannot believe that anyone would wish to support the Palestinian cause, given what we know about them.
