Town is in decline

WHILE in Newhaven the other day I spoke to the owner of The Newhaven Angler shop and he had a lot of interesting things to say about the regeneration of Newhaven and its harbour.

He has lived in Newhaven all his life and is sad to see how it has declined.

Meanwhile, on a recent trip to the New Forest I saw it is possible to get off the train at Brockenhurst and hire a cycle to travel over the forest without too much in the way of road use.

Is this a possibility from Newhaven Ferry Terminal or is it physically impossible to create such a cycle route for ferry passengers and others?

A cycle ride in the glorious countryside around Newhaven would be a treat as you know.

I can just see somebody getting off the ferry with their luggage getting on a bike.

A locker storage facility could be provided. Day trippers if they were given enough time this side of the channel might want to use bikes
