I was appalled to read that Newhaven Beach remains fenced off (The Argus, August 25.) I enjoyed many happy times on this beach with my son when he was a child.
It should not be possible for owners of a beach to restrict access in this way.
Why should local children and local businesses be expected to suffer because of the failure of the owners to carry out the work necessary to make it safe?
Well done to the protesters for highlighting this totally unacceptable situation.
