I have recently borrowed a book from the Mile Oak Library.
It was published by The Argus and entitled Brighton Remembered. It is full of photos of Brighton through the years.
One particular photo caught my eye which was dated February 1983 and was a picture of a sign which displayed car parking charges at the time.
In those days they were displayed in pence. One hour or less was 25p, four hours 75p, and over seven hours 135p to give you some examples.
No bank loan needed in those days to visit Brighton.
