Isn’t it funny that there is one rule for the council and one for the rest of us (Argus, September 5).

If Mr Baker had asked for planning permission to build an extension at the rear of his Newhaven home, no doubt it would have been refused due to lack of privacy to others and if for some reason he built it anyway he would have been told to pull it down.

Yet a whole classroom can be built at the back of his garden and really close, so it is not just his privacy invaded.

It will be really noisy during term time with school bells, children playing etc and as much the sound of children playing is a happy/nice sound I would probably think differently if it was so close to my back garden.

If you move next to a school then you should appreciate all mentioned but I think he should be compensated by the council for this intrusion, which will make up for his home devaluing!
