The Circus Street regeneration proposals have certainly got our creative juices flowing at South East Dance.

We have the opportunity to bring dance to everyone through the Dance Space, which is at the heart of the proposed development, growing our community dance projects to reach many more people in the city and beyond, as well as boosting Brighton’s reputation as an internationally renowned centre for arts.

Our Dance Space will not only be the HQ of South East Dance but our performance space will open on to the new Circus Square, which is larger than Jubilee Square, allowing us to show performances from some of the very best.

We are delighted to have support from leading figures in the arts world, including Andrew Comben, chief executive of Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival, with whom we work in partnership to co-programme dance events.

He said: “Brighton is a hub for the creative industries. The proposal will bring economic benefit.”

Helen Medland, artistic director of The Basement, has expressed wholehearted support for The Dance Space, describing it as an “outstanding and much needed resource”.

Many more leading lights in the arts world have declared their support and we have attracted nearly £3 million to support the Dance Space, through grants.

This is our chance to do something culturally magnificent in the city of Brighton and Hove.
