I do agree with the letter from Paul Leader (Argus August 30) regarding the thoroughly undeserved criticisms regarding the career of Lord Attenborough, pictured.

This isn’t the first time that Adam Trimingham, the so called ‘Sage of Sussex’ has written unkind remarks about the lifetime’s work of someone who has recently died.

Lord Attenborough was involved with a wide variety of activities. He was involved with a lot of things to do with Brighton. He was an extremely good actor. I have never read anything detrimental to his character.

He was a gentleman in every sense of the word, and this is becoming a rare breed.

Next time someone famous dies, perhaps the ‘Sage’ could keep quiet if he is unable to write without criticism. Is he perhaps envious of other people’s achievements?
