I thought I could share with you a picture of our beaver colony here at the 8th Burgess Hill Scout Group.

Last term, our beavers, children from six to eight, did Ten Bob a Job things such as helping mum clean up and helping grandad tidy up his shed, for which they asked 50p.

Loads of jobs were carried out, loads of sheds were tidied and, in the end, they raised £40.

This they donated to ShelterBox.

ShelterBox is an amazing charity. They provide big boxes full of live-saving equipment to people who have been caught up in a disaster.

Each box contains, among other things, a tent, some pots and pans, a stove and a water filter.

Our beavers wanted to raise money for a water filter, which can provide three years of clean safe water where normally the water is dirty and disease-ridden.

They did this and Mike Barker from Shelterbox came to the hut to give us a talk, to show us what is in the boxes they send out and to accept our hard-earned donation.

I think they did wonderfully.
