The ‘Carriageway Conundrum’ feature by Adam Trimmingham mentioned it might be possible for an enterprising bus company to run a fast service the whole length of the A27. Coast road providing competition for trains?

Surely a bus company would win hands down as across Brighton and Hove south coast trains have to shunt in and out of Eastbourne terminus train station because the mile long Willingdon Chord is missing.

Plus the whole coast way railway is cut in half at out of date Brighton terminus train station plus 25 miles of permanent way is unelectrified between Hastings and Ashford International.

Also, South Coast rail passengers between Ashford international and Brighton have to put up with standing room only two carriage diesel train service as promised electrification has not happened.

This service is hourly and a disgrace. No wonder the roads are gridlocked.
