Am I surprised at the latest scheme on the agenda for the aquarium roundabout to bring yet more traffic chaos to the commuter on Brighton seafront?
Not at all! Do these people have nothing better to do? Year after year we are subjected to major roadworks on the seafront whether it be Southern Water, Southern Gas etc.
Now the road is subsiding which doesn’t surprise after the amount of times that area has been dug up!
This time it’s the aquarium roundabout that needs turning into a T-junction at the cost of a bargain £6m! Why?
I have travelled over this roundabout at least twice every day for 30 years and witnessed maybe two or three accidents.
The roundabout is fine. Any delays are normally a result of the numerous sets of traffic lights in the vicinity.
It’s red light after red light and that’s without ongoing roadworks.
Regardless of where the £6m is coming from, this part of the project is unnecessary and will cause yet more months of misery whilst being worked on and what guarantee is there that it will improve the traffic flow when complete?
It’s £6m down the drain and in the light of the current drainage issues throughout the city causing flooding and misery to many households and businesses.
Perhaps our city leaders should get their priories right and sort this issue before winter really strikes.
